Over the last few decades, the United States has consistently been rated as one of the top unhealthiest countries in the world, ever wonder why? With gym memberships are at an all-time high, we have "food products" with zero-fat/gluten-free/sugar-free ingredient lists, and there is a medication to "fix" pretty much any ailment we might have. So why do we hold onto body fat? If it were as easy as eating less and moving more, wouldn't we as a country be healthy? Unfortunately the calories in calories out method is not the solution.

On Saturday, January 14th, 2017 we are hosting a health seminar. Our very own, Mike Cahill (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA as well as a United States Weightlifting Coach) Steph Anne Stupid Easy Paleo - Steph Gaudreau from, and Jason Deyo (Masters in Holistic Nutrition and Doctorate in Traditional Naturopathy) will be hosting the seminar at Bear Republic Crossfit.

Topics to be discussed:
- Defining Health
- History of nutrition in this country and how we arrived to our current state
- The Three macronutrients and their individual responses to hormones
- The relationship with hormones Cortisol/Insulin, and neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin and how they affect our health
- Blood Sugar: hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia and the effects of each
- Why calories are not the thing to pay attention to; why eating fat does not make you fat
- The Psychology of exercise/food obsession
- Sleep: Why it is the most important thing you can do for your health and why/how you are probably doing it wrong
- Putting it all together to make a healthier you
