EVENT DETAILS: Join us for a free community event featuring the poems and stories from strong and resilient refugee women and girls who participate in our IRC San Diego’s Girls Academy and Women In Action programs. International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a global day celebrating the economic, cultural, and social achievements of women. This event is an opportunity to listen to the voices of influential and determined females who make our communities stronger by simply being themselves.

This is a free event, but if you would like to contribute to our programs for women and girls, please help us reach our goal by donating or joining our team to fundraise:

BACKGROUND ON IRC COMMITMENT TO GENDER EQUALITY: The mission of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is to help those whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and regain control of their futures. All IRC programs are designed to achieve meaningful change in health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and decision-making. The IRC is a global leader in transforming the lives of women and girls, and is committed to ensuring that men and women, boys and girls in the communities where the IRC works achieve equal outcomes through program activities. The IRC in San Diego is committed to empowering women and girls so that their futures are bright, safe, equal and fulfilling. We aim to create programs that address the specific barriers holding our women and girls back from pursuing their ambitions and achieving their goals.
