Lily & Madeleine w/ Shannon Hayden and Second Cousins

Bio ~

Lily & Madeleine’s goal is to release an album-a-year for three years — a rare feat when the trend among singer-songwriters is to space albums by half-decades. So far, they’re on track: Fumes, the duo’s second LP, was released October 28, 2014, 366 days after last year’s Lily & Madeleine. The sophomore album is a leap forward for the duo, a mature sentiment of two gifted young artists who have launched from their hometown onto the world stage with speed and grace.
When Indianapolis sisters Lily and Madeleine Jurkiewicz first started making music together, it didn’t cross their minds that they could make a living at it. Although they now find themselves in an acclaimed full-fledged career, what got them here has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with the spirit.

Shannon Hayden

Groundbreaking cellist, Shannon Hayden, began playing cello at the age of 7 and over the next several years she studied and competed both nationally and internationally. Despite the heavy demands of classical study, Shannon found time to become an accomplished guitarist as well, performing and recording with bands and developing cello compositions incorporating effects borrowed from her electric guitar work. Interest in furthering the range and the future role of her instrument continued and even eclipsed her interest in traditional cello works. Experimenting with analog and digital devices required the development of new playing techniques, which expanded on the unique sonic characteristics of the cello.

Second Cousins

Formed in San Diego in 2013, Second Cousins started as an acoustic group of folk instruments and quickly developed into a full band, exploring various sonic textures that reinforce the songwriting that the band was born from. Second Cousins released their debut self-titled EP in 2014, which established the band’s presence as a dynamic group in the studio as well as on the stage. Since then, they’ve been performing internationally, bringing audiences an experience as intimate as it is exciting.
