Lyrical Exchange says
Tonight is the night. We will roll out our best attire and a red carpet as we celebrate four beautiful years of love, laughter and lyrics. This is show no. 200 for Lyrical Exchange when there was a time when it seemed like we would make it to show no. 50. This is a night that will go down in the growing, storied history of Lyrical Exchange. We have the amazing SHAWN WILLIAM coming all the way down from the Bay Area to bless our stage with his immense talent as well as a hand-selected performance list for the first hour, testimonials from old heads on their time at LE, the selection of the new outro song, the craziest host in town and some SURPRISE announcements that will make this the most memorable LE of them all! It's no. 200, folks. Let's do this in style! LY-RICAL EX-CHAAAAANGE!

After listening to him for any length of time; one learns almost immediately, Shawn William is an Bay Area/Oakland native, a loving father, a committed husband, and a vivid story teller, passionate about every day life. He writes about the world not only as he sees it but as he would like it to be.

Never one to shy away from difficult topics; his most viewed work (to date) deals with the hypocrisies African American quarterbacks face in the NFL (“Dab on Cam” which has over 5 million views) and his reaction/mental state should he find himself the father of a deceased child due to police actions (A Father’s Warning Shot)

Shawn’s relatable style coupled with his powerful performances has taken him from leading workshops for young people at youth centers to the Apollo Stage in Harlem, with notable visits to colleges and universities in between gracing the stage of Radio Music Hall, opened for Jill Scott, performed at the Essence Music Festival, and appeared the Arsenio Hall show as well as TV One’s Verses and Flow.

When not on stage, Shawn William can be found organizing community events, creating memes that spark dialogue and reminding us all that the best spoken word pieces are those that cause us to feel and question.

R. Preston Clark brings you the 200th installment of Lyrical Exchange. Held every Tuesday night at Queen Bee's in North Park and with DJ Red Lite playing the music, LE is a beautiful combination of music, poetry and everything else in between. A welcoming crowd and diverse talent base makes LE the place to be on a Tuesday night. Every night has been something new, something different, something like only LE can provide.

It's only $5 to get in and it's an open mic for poets, singers, musicians and comedians. We do it big. We do it crazy. And we do it on Tuesday nights.

We'll see you there... =)
