Connecting the Dots in the Innovation Economy: a collaboration between Makers Quarter™ and Alexandria

San Diego’s region boasts a thriving innovation economy that includes 8-10 location centered clusters (sports innovation in north county coastal, life sciences in Torrey Pines Mesa, software and technology in Downtown). One goal of this collaboration is to enhance the connections between these clusters, particularly between the Torrey Pines Mesa and Downtown San Diego.
This initiative builds upon the efforts of EDC, DSDP, UCSD, SDSU, Connect and others to ‘bridge the gap’ between the Torrey Pines Mesa / UTC sub market and Downtown through various programs
San Diego offers an extraordinary quality of life that goes far beyond the natural beauty of the landscape and climate, but also includes a vibrant community of artisans, makers, scientists and creatives; one goal is to explore a link between these communities.
Makers Quarter and Alexandria share an intrinsic belief that everyone is a Maker: from scientists and teachers, to brewers and artists.
