Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae, Betty Carter—these jazz vocalists helped to form and define what jazz singing is all about. Melissa Morgan and Lorraine Theresa Castellanos come together for a very special concert to pay homage to their major influences and share their own interpretations of jazz standards, and more.

Melissa Morgan's appearance in San Diego is one you should not miss. Jazz Times magazine declares "Morgan achieves more than mere mimicry or hero worship. Where the breathless Wilson of the early 60s seemed honey-dipped, the more audacious Morgan is decidedly salty.
Local jazz vocalist Lorraine Castellanos is making her mark on the jazz scene. Robert Bush of SD Reader explains, "Right off, you could hear the similarities in tone, timbre and phrasing with the legendary Holiday, without be cloying or slavish. She's got a natural approach to swing."
Each vocalist will be featured with an incredible rhythm section, Sam Hirsh on keys, Dean Hulett on bass, and Ryan Shaw on drums.

Expect some duets between these two friends reminiscent of the Carmen McRae/Betty Carter, Judy Garland, and Ella and Louis duets. Moreover, expect a fun-filled evening listening to this dynamic duo and heavy hitting band come together in spirit and song.

$20 online tickets are available at until 5PM PST on the evening of the event. If the show has not reached full capacity, the remaining tickets will be available at the door for $25. 21+ only.

Food and drinks served beginning at 7:00; $10 minimum per person.
