Peter Case Kicks Off His West Coast Tour At The Go! says
We have a very special show for you to kick off the new year, as the Grassroots Oasis welcomes 3-time Grammy nominee Peter Case to our intimate environs. Seated, indoor show starts about 8p.

Those of you who have been subscribing to the Oasis since the old days probably remember Peter from his sold out appearance with us in 2011. But for those not as familiar with him, let me tell you a bit about this extraordinary artist.

Peter Case’s work sets the bar for authenticity, passion and imagination and spans a number of genres, including folk, blues, and rock. Raised in Buffalo, NY, Case moved to the Bay area in 1973 and worked as a street musician and played in the seminal power pop group The Nerves, with whom he wrote "Hanging On The Telephone" (later a big hit for Blondie). He later moved to Los Angeles to form the Plimsouls, signing a deal with Geffen Records. The Plimsouls achieved success with the hit single, “A Million Miles Away,” which landed them a role in the movie Valley Girl, as the band performing during the club scenes.

Case’s 1986 solo Geffen Record debut (the self-titled, Peter Case) revealed deep roots in folk and blues, and earned him his first Grammy nomination for the song “Old Blue Car” as well as the Number 1 spot on the NY Time’s 1986 Best CDs list. His second album (The Man With the Blue Post-Modern Fragmented Neo-Traditionalist Guitar) prompted Bruce Springsteen to say in a 1989 Rolling Stone interview, “The songwriter I’ve been listening to the most, lately, is Peter Case”.

Several CDs later, Case earned another Grammy nomination for Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John, a remarkable collection of songs that features Case’s voice and a single guitar. It’s clear that Case is a major talent on the Americana troubadour landscape. With or without a backing band, Case delivers his songs with both intense passion and introspective nuance.

Now, Peter has released his latest CD, Highway 62, which features Ben Harper on lead guitar, and he is kicking off his west coast tour with this show, right here in San Diego. So please join us as we welcome Peter Case to the Grassroots Oasis, for an intimate evening of moving stories and music with this amazing artist.
