An experiential play-shop providing powerful self- healing techniques to vitalize and energize your body, while calming and focusing your mind.
Musical instruments tuned to Pentatonic scales and natural ambient / environmental sounds are effective for harmonizing the corresponding organs, energy centers called “charkas”, and the energy field surrounding the body called the “aura.”
We will explore healing aspects of the Five Element Theory of Chinese Medicine and KOTOTAMA ( The Ancient Science of Pure Sound) by surrounding the body with acoustic instruments that correspond to and replicate the Five Elements.
Elemental sounds and instruments include:
Base of Spine EARTH (Ocarina, Udu, Crystal Bowls)
Kidney/ Bladder WATER (Rainsticks, Kalimba, Ocean Drums,Liver/
Gall Bladder WOOD (Balafone, Tongue Drum, Blocks, ClaveHeart FIRE (Strings/ Harps, Monochord, Autoharp)
Lung and Large Intestine METAL (Gongs, Himalayan Singing Bowls, tuning forks)
Throat and Head WIND/ETHER (Flutes, Wind Whistle, chimes )
Additional techniques include:
Guided Visualization / Meditation
Breathing /Pranyama Techniques
Ecstatic Movement with Live Drumming
Droning instruments (Harmonium, Didgeridoo, Monochord, Tempura)
Vocalizing “Kototama” vowels and seed syllables known in India as “Bijas”
Silence and Body Rhythms (Breath, Heartbeat, Circulation)
