Conduction: The practice of conveying and interpreting a lexicon of directives to modify or construct sonic arrangement or composition; a structure-content exchange between composer/ conductor /instrumentalist that provides immediate possibilities to alter or initiate harmony, melody, rhythm, tempo, progression, articulation, phrasing or form by manipulating pitch, dynamics, timbre, duration and order in real-time”.

Bio ::
Trumpeter and composer Stephanie Richards is a prominent voice in the NYC experimental scene, having worked with Henry Threadgill, Butch Morris, Laurie Anderson, John Zorn and Anthony Braxton. A multidisciplinary collaborator, her works often include sight, sound and movement. She has premiered her own works from the stages of Carnegie Hall, the
Bluenote and Lincoln Center in addition to premiering numerous other works internationally. A founding member of the Asphalt Orchestra (Bang On a Can), she has worked with David Byrne, St. Vincent, Susan Marshall, Tyondai Braxton and has
performed alongside Kronos Quartet, The Pixies, Kanye West and Common. Stephanie is vice-president and co-artistic director of the Festival of New Trumpet (FONT) and is a
new addition to the music faculty at the University of California, San Diego.
