San Diego Symphony says
In celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of Balboa Park, and paying homage to the daily musical performances held during the yearlong 1915 Panama–California Exposition, The San Diego Museum of Art will feature the exhibition "The Art of Music," a multifaceted and culturally diverse exploration of the intersection between the visual and musical arts. This Jacobs Music Center concert, in collaboration with the San Diego Museum of Art, will feature an intriguing mixture of sight and sound with performances of music inspired by famous works of visual art.

The concert includes: Sergei Rachmaninoff's evocation of Arnold Böcklin's "The Isle of the Dead"; Adam Schoenberg's reflections on painter Mark Rothko; Ottorino Respighi's musical painting of a trio of great Sandro Botticelli works, including "The Birth of Venus"; and Claude Debussy's impressionist masterpiece, La mer (The Sea).

Special Offer from San Diego Museum of Art: Present your ticket stub from this concert for a FREE one-time admission to the Museum during their entire "The Art of Music" exhibition through February 7, 2016!
