The 9th Annual The San Diego Union-Tribune Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade & Expo presented by VCA Market Street Animal Hospital returns on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1-5PM. All pet owners and their companions are invited to don their favorite costumes and put their best paw forward for this jolly promenade and pet expo, which starts and ends at MLK Promenade Park at Fourth Avenue and K Street. The Pet Parade steps off promptly at 3:00pm from MLK Promenade Park and continues up 4th Ave takes a right at E street and down 5th Ave. ending under the iconic Gaslamp Quarter Archway.

Entry to participate in the Pet Parade is just $15 in advance per pet, $20 on the day of the event. Day-of registration and check-in will begin at 12:30pm. Guests are encouraged to register in advance as space in the Parade is limited and will fill up fast. For more information, please visit

Event Highlights

- Festive, family-friendly parade through the Gaslamp Quarter for jolly pets and their two-legged families steps off at 3:00PM
- Free pet expo featuring 25+ pet-related products and services at Hilton Gaslamp Park from 1:00 – 5:00PM
- The first 300 Pet Paraders to register will receive a complimentary goodie bag filled with pet-related product samples, gifts, and special offers from Gaslamp Quarter businesses
- Nine costume categories for you, your pet, and your family to compete in
- The winner of Best in Show will be invited to lead the 2017 Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade as Grand Marshal!
- Winners of the costume contest will be announced at 4:00PM at MLK Promenade Park at the Awards Ceremony presented by Doozydog Club and San Diego Humane Society.
-The first annual “GreyFriars Bobby” Award will be presented on the stage this year. Edinburgh, Scotland gave their sister city, San Diego a gift of a bronze statue of Greyfriars Bobby that sits in the historic foundation’s pocket park. Greyfriars Bobby symbolizes Loyalty, Service and Friendship. This year’s first recipient of the award will be a retiring officer from the San Diego K-9 unit.
-The 16 ½ block district will also have member businesses collecting donations for the San Diego Humane Society along with having food and drink specials honoring the occasion. The “Yappy Meower” sites will all be on a map given to all. Participants are encouraged to register in advance as space in the parade is limited and will fill up fast!
