Join us for the opening of The Uses of Photography: Art, Politics, and the Reinvention of a Medium. The exhibition examines the artistic community that formed in and around the University of California San Diego and its visual arts department, whose experiments with photography opened the medium to a profusion of new strategies and subjects. Artists in the exhibition include Eleanor Antin, Allan Kaprow, Fred Lonidier, Martha Rosler, Allan Sekula, and Carrie Mae Weems.

5:30-7 PM Supporters' Reception (MCASD Members at the Supporter level and above)

6 PM Panel Discussion with artists Eleanor Antin, Fred Lonidier, and Martha Rosler, moderated by curator Jill Dawsey. Open to the public. Free for members; $5 students and $10 non-members. Includes entry to opening from 7-9PM.

7-9 PM Public Opening
Free for Members; $5 students and $10 non-members. Included with ticket to 6-7 PM panel reception. Tour the exhibtion, mingle with artists and fellow art enthusiasts, pick up an exhibition catalogue, enjoy a specialty cocktail at the cash bar.
