Triton 5 K And Festival says

Join Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla and 3,500 fellow students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends for a 3.1 mile adventure through the heart of UC San Diego's beautiful campus. After the race, bring your friends and family to the festival featuring live music, hands-on activities for children of all ages, Fun Zone, Junior Triton Run, beer garden, and more!

Since it was established in 1996, the Triton 5K (formerly the Chancellor's Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars) has raised more than $3.9 million, benefiting more than 1,000 motivated and ambitious students.

The event was founded by former UC San Diego Chancellor Robert C. Dynes to rally the campus in support of undergraduate students. Most recently, Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla helped to push past the $3 million fundraising mark, growing the event to include 3,000 participants and volunteers. The Triton 5K is an important campus tradition with a legacy that will last long into the future.
