Tritons for Unicef says
Hey everyone! Tritons for UNICEF is teaming up with Coaching Corps to host a soccer clinic for underprivileged Iraqi refugee children. These children are participants in the YALLA initiative, Youth and Leaders Living Actively (YALLA) San Diego, Inc.

YALLA exists to help refugee and immigrant youth rebuild their lives with education and soccer. We invite you to participate in this event, where we will be playing soccer, enjoying some food and snacks on Marshal Field, and encouraging these kids to go to college.

During this clinic the children will be teaching us how to play soccer the way they're used to, this encounter will help break down cultural barriers and allow their interaction with American customs to be less intimidating as they continue to transition into their life in the US. Essentially, using sports is a way to connect refugees to a new home.

Soccer is not only an exciting activity but it also serves as a hook to get these children enthusiastic about attending college. As a part of the clinic we will also be conducting a mini tour around the center area of UCSD, where all our resource centers are located. Everyone is invited to participate in this tour and talk with the children about their experience at UCSD, give some advice regarding college, offer words of wisdom or encouragement, or just serve as an enthusiastic tour guide!

By participating you can foster this sentiment of encouragement and have fun while you play soccer with these children! Don't miss out!
Remember soccer is the hook. College is the goal!
