The Square

We are all about amazing local food and drink in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. We are a comfortable neighborhood gathering spot that places a huge value on the care put into the menu, our source of ingredients and the service given by our talented team. The Square is one restaurant in a family of restaurants (Sons & Daughters and Sweet Woodruff) and an 83 acre farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains (Dark Hill Farm). Our farm is the biggest influence on all our restaurants and is the main force behind The Square's straight forward Californian cuisine. The Square takes its name from a nickname of the historic Washington Square Bar & Grill that once occupied the space for nearly 30 years. We are humbled at the opportunity to fill such big shoes.

Come in and check us out for dinner and weekend brunch. We are located on Powell St. across from Washington Square Park. We take reservations as well as leave our full bar area available for walk-ins.
