The Marsh works hard to present new works, especially solo fare, priding itself on allowing performers to take risks. At the same time, the atmosphere around its two stages and adjacent café is mellow and inviting. Emerging acts such as Josh Kornbluth often move on to larger venues in the Bay Area or countrywide, while seasoned pros like Merle Kessler (aka Ian Shoales) and John O'Keefe alight here as well.
