Town Hall Seattle says
In 2013, disaster relief advocate Rebecca Vitsmun’s Oklahoma home was destroyed by a tornado. Afterward, she made national headlines when she publicly identified herself as an atheist. Vitsmun–who wanted to volunteer for a non-religious, humanist relief organization–established the Foundation Beyond Belief’s Humanist Disaster Recovery Team in response to her experiences. She’ll offer an overview of what led her to spearhead this organization, give an outline of its current infrastructure, and explain why it’s necessary to have a nontheistic pool of national volunteers who are ready when called.
