Time Out says
"The Bare Roots were founded in 1965 by five Junior High School friends in Seattle .They were attracted to the British invasion bands of the mid 60s but favored the more bluesy sounds of The Animals, Rolling Stones, and Yardbirds. They recognized that most of the blues songs they liked were written and originally performed by American artists like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Willy Dixon, so they started listening to the original versions and trying to capture the Chicago blues sound in addition to playing the rock standards of that period. The members dispersed in High School but remained friends and continued to play together periodically. Four of the original five members began playing together regularly again in the late 80s.While juggling careers they practiced, recorded, and played at parties. In the last few years the sound was augmented with some additional personnel and The Bare Roots resumed playing gigs in the Seattle area." Tonight the band is celebrating its 50th anniversary!! Greg, John, and Dave were all original members back in 9th grade in 1965.
