Calamus Auditorium at Gay City

Gay City Arts and Lion's Main Art Collective present a Trans & Gender Queer Open Mic, with open mic opportunities for introductions and performances, including spoken word, music, dance, or other performances by trans and gender queer artists. Featured performers will be Mateo Cruz and Kathleen Nacozy.

This event is part of Trans Arts Month, a month long series of events featuring performing arts, visual art, film, and more celebrating the beauty and diversity of work by trans artists. More info: gaycity.org/transartsmonth

Mateo Cruz is a transgender working class writer based out of Seattle Washington. Mateo started writing when placed within the foster system in his youth. He has maintained writing while working as a seasonal farm worker, barista,warehouse worker and bus driver. He has participated in TransMission, Mom’ologues and was published in Shift- queer literary magazine. More of Mateo’s work can be found at aroomfullofglassmirrors.blogspot.com.

Kathleen Nacozy is a comedian and writer and one-third of Deep Lez. With Deep Lez or solo, she has performed for Bumbershoot, the Comedy Nest, Hella Much, Northwest Folklife and SketchFest Seattle. She has written for many journalism outlets including MSN.com, Voice for the Defense and Yahoo. She is a 2016 Lambda Literary Fellow and an impassioned improv teacher whose next class starts June 8th at the Pocket Theater.
