Activating the City: Urban Gastronomy

A fairly small exhibition, Activating the City exposes new ways in which food works as a social mediator to bring out and celebrate a city’s vibrancy. Art and research projects developed for this exhibition display creative ways in which individuals connect with one another as well as the community through gastronomic cultures. From city farmers to a bicycle café, interviews of people taking part in Helsinki's Restaurant Day to portable kitchen projects, you will be able to see and learn how creative people are developing sub-cultures within a city by taking old and new food cultures.
