Master Lee Hyun-bae has devoted the past 26 years of his life to creating aesthetically and functionally outstanding onggi, a type of Korean earthenware typically used as environmentally-friendly storage containers. This exhibition highlights and explores the artist’s pursuit of creation in 3 categories: the first is of the much underestimated aesthetics of the onggi, the second explores the variety of roles that onggi plays in contemporary food culture, and lastly, master Lee’s unique method of onggi creation. Around 600 works of art will be displayed, allowing us to discover the intersection of tradition and contemporary art, as well as the ways in which the onggi can be useful via contemporary lifestyles, the master's unceasing passion.
