Slobbie (slow-bee) is a Korean slang for “slower but better working.” The vegetables at Café Slobbie are either grown in a field or bought from the local marketplace. They often use doenjang made from boiled Chinese catbrier roots, which are good for detoxification, in their soups and banchan, and they use organic brown rice. Their signature menu item is the meal of the day, which features shepherd’s purse, doenjang soup with chwinamul, a green salad and seasoned konjac during the spring. Every Monday you have the option to make your meal of the day vegetarian. Be sure to also try dishes off the house menu, which offers items such as salad bibimbap and a grilled deoduck and saesongi (king oyster mushrooms) mushroom meal set.
