Talk to Santa about your wishes for this Christmas at Santa’s village or take a warm stroll through a Christmas tree forest at COEX Convention Hall this winter. Starting on December 15th, COEX will transform itself into a winter wonderland filled with joyful and colorful decorations and events for all to enjoy during the most special time of the year, all under the theme ‘Color Falls in Winter’. Try your luck at the surprise events to win some prizes whilst enjoying some Christmas carols as well!
Snow Rhapsody (12.15 – 12.31)
Although Christmas decorations and lights always sparkle up the mood, the Snow Rhapsody installation will work on a whole new level. From the front of ASEM Tower all the way to the entrance of Samseong Station, you'll witness Korea’s first art balloon illumination project. During the day, the installation will mimic large piles of fallen snow, and once the sun sets the balloons will colorfully light up with music playing in the background.
Coex Santa Claus Village (12.15 – 12.31)
Got any Christmas wish to tell Santa Claus this year? Visit the Santa Claus Village at COEX, where you will not only be able to meet Santa but also make Christmas cards at the Santa Post Office to send to Finland’s Santa Village. Children will get a chance to write their wishes on a huge stocking and make a snowman which will be transformed into a huge snowman cake! Santa and his reindeer are getting ready to fly back on the 25th, so make sure to take a picture on his sled at the photo zone! All events are free.
Winter Art Market (12.15 – 12.31)
Find some art and make awesome craft work purchases at the Winter Art Market. It will showcase winter themed works created by Korean illustrator Varietysum and German illustrator Ana Albero, while the Winter Flea Market stalls will be selling trendy handcraft items every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Cube Project (12.15 – 12.31)
What happens when the culinary world meets art? What you can experience at The Cube Project is just that. Well-known restaurants will set up booths inside cube structures, while pop-artist SANTA will be decorating the exterior of the cubes. Your Big Face installation, created by multi-disciplinary studio ‘New American Public Art’, will be brought for this event for the first time to Korea. You can also get your face scanned by a gigantic 3D printer and have it displayed as "the face of the year."
Brilliant Countdown (12.31)
From 8pm, the main part of Yeongdong-daero (in front of Coex) will be blocked for Coex Winter Festival marking the beginning of the new year. The Brilliant Countdown is set to be one of the larger countdown events in Seoul. Celebrity performances and fireworks will be sure to make this a special event to participate with your family or loved one. The line-up includes Psy, Epic High, Verbal Jint, San E, Microdot and DJ KOO.
