Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis says
Inspired by Hurvin Anderson: Backdrop, this exhibition season's iteration of CAM’s book club discusses Between the World and Me, the #1 New York Times bestseller by recent MacArthur Foundation “genius” and National Book Foundation, National Book Awards winner Ta-Nehisi Coates. This powerful and thoughtful memoir explores America’s racial history. The discussion will be led by Shanti Parikh, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Sociocultural Anthropology and African and African-American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

Parikh has conducted research on gender, inequality, and sexual health in the Global South for almost 25 years. In addition authoring numerous articles, chapters, and policy papers, she is co-author of The Secret: Love, Marriage, and HIV and author of Regulating Romance: Youth Love Letters, Moral Anxiety and Interventions in Uganda’s Time of AIDS. Parikh holds a BS degree in Finance from University of Virginia and a PhD in Social Anthropology from Yale University.
