Beer’s at the bar. Craving crisps or olives? Bring your own.

No one in Malmö can have missed that Karlskronaplan is having a bit of a ‘moment’. New places keep opening, each bringing something different to the area.
When Barbaren (The Bar bar) opens on Amiralsgatan at the end of August, it’ll be Malmö’s first BYO (bring your own) bar, and probably the only bar in the entire city owned by a group of 14 friends. Together, they’re setting out to create what could become Malmö’s ultimate pre-party spot. The group behind it hopes the space will become a meeting place centred around art, culture and creativity, while the bar will serve beer, wine, soft drinks, cocktails and mocktails. There won’t be a food menu, so guests are welcome to bring along whatever they fancy eating.
A few years ago, Karlskronaplan was little more than a handful of boarded-up premises. Today, you’ll find wine bar Ava, restaurants Tacopalatset and Fredan, vegan spot FIR and beer bar Ekke all within a radius of about 100 metres. Barbaren will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
