WMNF Community radio says
Two big WMNF stars in one big evening.

Americana star Eilen Jewell is getting huge attention for her new album: major features in Mother Jones, NPR Music, No Depression, and featured on the Today Show and Morning Edition. Jewell sings with an unhurried elegance that evokes late-night intimacies and dusty roads with equal skill. Though her fifth album consists entirely of original songs, Sundown Over Ghost Town feels like a welcome return to a set of classics you’ve known forever, gently touching on desire, loneliness, and the longing for home. Paced by guitarist Jerry Miller and steel guitarist Jake Hoffman, Jewell’s underrated band gracefully mixes breezy rockers and luminous ballads without straining for effect.

The Iguanas are the eclectic New Orleans dance band who has played many major WMNF events going back to 1994. They play a mix of roots rock, New Orleans R&B and Mexican music. Their most recent album, Juarez, redefines the notion of Americana, crossing cultures, styles, eras, and languages. It’s as if Rue Bourbon, Muscle Shoals and Plaza México were all within earshot of each other and The Iguanas were the musical conduit between them.
