Want a meditation practice that calms and focuses the mind while letting you move your body? Looking for mindfulness practices that don’t make you sit still?

This workshop will introduce you to the moving mindfulness practices of traditional Chinese qigong (i.e., Chinese-style yoga). We will explore various moving meditations, and you will be given a toolbox of mindfulness techniques that can be incorporated into your daily life--either on their own or as a complement to the yoga, meditation, and other practices you already do.

Appropriate for beginners as well as people with established yoga, meditation, or qigong practices.

Qigong is Chinese yoga and meditation that uses low-impact movements drawn from Daoism, Buddhism, traditional Chinese health practices, and Asian martial arts traditions. This workshop will introduce you to specific qigong practices that bring meditation into movement and movement into meditation.

You will also be introduced to one of the most traditional and famous of Chinese Daoist meditation techniques: the Microcosmic Orbit meditation.

The specific movements we will practice will range from soft and slow to exercises that can be vigorous enough to make you sweat, but even the more vigorous practices can be done in modified ways that are appropriate for many different kinds of body.

This workshop is led by Steve Geisz, Ph.D. Steve is a Certified Full Instructor in the Healing Tao qigong system of Mantak Chia, a student of the Colorado and San Diego-based qigong teacher Ken Cohen, a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT 500), and a philosophy professor.

Cost: $20 in advance/ $25 on the day of the event.
