Stageworks Theatre says
"The Mother****er With the Hat" opens at Stageworks Theatre on July 9, hot on the heels of author Stephen Adly Guirgis' recent Pulitzer Prize for Drama. To rev ourselves up for the beautiful grit and violent poetry of Guirgis' work, we're hosting two staged readings of his earlier plays.

Elizabeth Brincklow directs a cast of 12 in "Our Lady of 121st Street" on June 21. The body of a beloved nun is stolen from a funeral home, and an emotionally charged neighborhood tries to find a place to put their grief, checkered pasts and their uncertain futures.

"It's hilarious and tragic like most of Guirgis' work," says Brincklow. "Our Lady makes you think."
