Can’t eat gluten? Whether you’re intolerant, allergic, or coeliac (three different conditions — and yes, we know the difference!), you’ll always find options at Time Out Market Barcelona, especially at The Fish & Chips Shop. But this May, there will be even more — and at special prices — because May 15 is International Gluten-Free Day, and we couldn’t miss it! Join the celebration with a full menu for just €18 on May 5, 12, 19, and 26. Reserve it here and pay once you arrive at the Time Out Market.
Gluten-free menu
The proposal is a full menu that starts with two appetizers to kick things off: a Taco California and a fresh, balanced coleslaw. It continues with the star of the house — a crispy and light fish & chips, thanks to its gluten-free batter. To finish, a sweet touch with a lemon pie that provides the perfect ending. All for €18, with excellent value for money.
Throughout the month of May, new gluten-free dishes will also be added to the menu and menu board, and all gluten-free options will be more clearly labeled to make choosing even easier and safer.
The Fish & Chips Shop
The name says it all: a restaurant that pays tribute to one of Britain’s most iconic dishes. But there’s an interesting twist. The Fish & Chips Shop at Time Out Market Barcelona, in Port Vell, offers a completely gluten-free concept that reinterprets this classic in a lighter, more inclusive way.
Founded by brothers Mani Alam and Magid Alam, the project is built around a unique technique: a chestnut-smoked tempura batter that skips wheat entirely, using a blend of chickpea and corn flours with cereal flakes. The result? An incredibly crispy coating around fresh hake or cod. All served in generous portions and rooted in Indo-Pakistani culinary influences that move away from heavier, greasier versions. Are you in?
