At Time Out Market Boston, we’re raising a glass to a good cause every month—literally. That’s the spirit behind Time Out Market’s Cocktail for a Cause program, a monthly program that pairs creative mixology with community impact. 

“Our Cocktail for a Cause program is something very near and dear to our hearts” says Meg Murphy, Assistant General Manager at Time Out Market. “We pride ourselves on exhibiting the best that the city has to offer and we feel a unique connection with our community, so giving back to that community is extremely important to us.” 

Every month, Time Out Market shakes up a special limited-edition cocktail and donates $1 from every drink sold to a local cause doing meaningful work in the community. The cocktail and benefiting charity are highlighted on the Market’s social media, and guests get the chance to try a fun new cocktail outside of the Market’s signature cocktail list. 

When it comes to choosing a charity partner each month, Murphy says they prioritize organizations that focus their energy and impact on the Boston and New England area in general. Once a charity partner is selected, it’s time to design the drink. 

“When coming up with a recipe, we like to keep the charity in mind while also making sure that the drink is delicious, seasonally appropriate and will appeal to guests on its own merit as a cocktail,” explained Murphy. “Occasionally, there are opportunities for a fun wink and a nod. For example, in May we chose Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter in Boston as the charity, and named the cocktail ‘Rose-Colored Glasses.’ We also featured Glendalough Wild Rose Gin.”

This month’s cocktail for a cause is called “The Summer Fling,” made with Absolut Pear Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, housemade strawberry syrup, lemon juice and prosecco. For every “The Summer Fling” sold, $1 will be donated to the Serenely Guiding Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of patients, families, caregivers and those affected by all rare diseases.
