Chef István Pesti is the only Hungarian chef outside of Budapest, in a countryside restaurant, who has earned two Michelin stars. This exceptional international recognition makes him a key player at Time Out Market Budapest, where he has created a new concept exclusively for the Market. CANTEEN doesn't offer a fine dining experience; instead it brings traditional Hungarian flavours into a modern, urban space. „At my Platán Gourmet restaurant in Tata, I showcase a different side of Hungarian cuisine — it's more abstract and innovative there. However, I've always felt there's a huge demand for traditional Hungarian dishes too — the kind our grandmothers used to cook, evoking childhood memories. I wanted to bring these classic, homemade, high-quality flavours, cooked with heart and memories," explains István Pesti. The CANTEEN menu features popular dishes such as goulash soup, Wiener (veal) schnitzel, and chicken paprikash, with a classic apple pie providing the perfect finish.
