On the night of June 23rd, the market once again transforms its outdoor square into a traditional São João celebration, perfect for anyone who wants to dive into the city's most beloved festival without giving up a little comfort (yes, you can have both).
Expect grilled sardines from Meia-Nau, bifanas from Casa Inês, chef-led food offerings, ice-cold beer, cocktails, and plenty of traditional Portuguese music. From 6pm, we'll be screening Portugal's FIFA World Cup match against Uzbekistan to set the mood before the real party begins.
Then, the dancing starts — literally. Taking over the square is Baile dos Bateu Matou, whose performances are more than concerts: they're an open invitation to join the dance floor, full of energy and that rare feeling that everyone is moving to the same beat.
As tradition demands, there will also be a set dedicated to popular Portuguese music. Between toasts, plastic hammers and dance moves, the promise is simple: to celebrate São João the way it should be.
Tickets cost €5 (fully redeemable on food and drink) and include exclusive access to the square from 5pm to 1am.
