Held in Shiga Prefecture, the Biwako Biennale will be back for its seventh edition in 2016, presenting art at more than ten venues – most of which are buildings dating back to the Edo period, including Tenlaikyu, a 180-year-old former wholesale tatami mat store, built along the Hachiman-bori canal. Moving from one site to another will allow visitors to appreciate quirky works while taking a scenic walk in the historic town of Omi-Hachiman. This year's theme is 'eternal dream', with more than 70 artists and art units from both Japan and overseas set to take part.
