Time Out says

Now one of Japan's most renowned photographers, Hitomi Watanabe began her career in 1968, just as student protests were rocking both Tokyo and the rest of the world. But although she made her name with depictions of the radicalism of the late ’60s, Watanabe was an acute observer throughout her student years, when she compiled the 'Tekiya' series. On display now at Roppongi's Zen Foto, it highlights the street peddlers who used to be – and still are – an integral part of shrine and temple festivals across Japan.
