Hokusai Exhibition

This exhibition features 148 pieces of ukiyo-e artist Hokusai’s work, including ‘Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji’ and the iconic ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’. Contrary to what its name suggests, ‘Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji’ is actually comprised of 46 prints and the entire collection will be displayed at Sogo Yokohama. Although time had caused some of the colours to fade, the prints were restored to emanate a rich Prussian blue in their true form thanks to the latest digital remastering technology. In addition to Hokusai’s illustrations and a few of his comics, there will also be a corner explaining the process of his work along with a display of the tools he used.
