The Watari-Um's summer exhibition pays tribute to the late art critic Koji Taki, who died last year at the age of 82. In his essay for the catalog of the first Angel of History exhibition back in 1996, Taki observed that photography served to fill the gaps in history overlooked by historians themselves – an idea which provides the basis for this current show. Fittingly enough, there are 12 photographers showcased in I Love Art 12, running from early surrealists like Man Ray and René Magritte to present-day Japanese artists Chim↑Pom and Risaku Suzuki.
