Strap yourselves in for this unhinged exhibition by Spanish artist Joan Cornellà at Jingumae’s Standby. A free art event featuring a number of Cornellà’s latest satirical cartoons, ‘Send Yourself Nowhere but Tokyo’ sheds a new perspective on life during the pandemic. It also highlights some of the absurdities of our modern culture.
On display are bare bottoms, selfie guns and things set on fire for a showcase that is chaotic, comical and unnerving in equal measure. Alongside acrylic paintings on canvases, the exhibition will also feature Cornellà’s first-ever interactive installation where depictions reflecting his dark humour are played on a set of 15 television screens.
