Laughing Wagashi

The Toraya shop at Tokyo Midtown is great for getting your fix of traditional Japanese sweets, and now you have one more excuse to stop by for dorayaki, yokan and other familiar treats: the store's latest special exhibit displays wagashi themed on rakugo, the traditional form of comic storytelling that's still very much going strong. A total of 25 sweet and fun-friendly creations are on show, including a 'smile manju' shaped like a puffy face. Pick some up for yourself to brighten up a cold and dark winter day.
