Why this exhibition takes place at the good old Tobacco & Salt Museum is beyond us, but who's complaining: 'Makoto Wada and Japanese Illustration' is an in-depth look at the work of a true pioneer in the field. Having broken into the big time of graphic design in 1957 while still a student at Tama Art University, Wada is perhaps best known to the general public for his work on weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun's covers, but has also had illustrations appear in countless commercials, books and other magazines.
