Masashi Nakata: Campus Star

Exploring the concept of gender, its limitations and its diversity, photographer Masashi Nakata's thought-provoking images challenge our ingrained understanding of what it means to be (or not be) labelled with a specific gender 'tag' and all the expectations that come with it. This intrepid snapper's latest show, on at Ginza's Vanilla Gallery, focuses on how college students in Thailand express their sexual identities through school uniforms, and consists of portraits that capture both the uncertainty and pride of Nakata's young subjects.
