Inspired by the revolutionary work of Kenzo Tange, in the 1960s, architects like Kisho Kurokawa and Kiyonori Kikutake envisioned a future in which marine cities stretched across Tokyo Bay, and cars passed along highways in the sky. This retrospective looks back at the so-called Metabolism movement, charting how the participants' futuristic dreams coalesced and impacted the development of cities both in Japan and other countries around the world.
