Sendai-born Nozomi Tanaka took home the prestigious Voca prize for young painters in 2014, boosting her ethnologically inspired artistic pursuits and bringing further attention to themes such as local culture, beliefs and traditional arts in Tohoku. Having expanded her focus to general questions of place, space and urbanity in recent years, Tanaka now shows off a selection of city-inspired works in Daikanyama.
