Having returned to the roots of photography by working with daguerreotypes, Kawasaki-based artist Takashi Arai was honoured with the prestigious Ihei Kimura Award last year, marking his entry into the elite of Japanese photography. Famed for his post-3.11 shots of Tohoku and probing shots of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the rising star now presents this extensive exhibition featuring both his signature daguerreotype work and new shots that combine techniques from widely different eras. If your Japanese is up to par, consider also checking out one of the talks with the artist (on January 28, February 4 and February 25).
