Time Out says

Dutch artist Mark Manders originally set out to be a writer before he found it was easier and more interesting to convey messages via three-dimensional objects. Taking into consideration the way objects dictate our way of thinking, Manders created a series of sculptures as self portraits frozen in time.

This exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo – the first solo exhibition for Manders in Japan – features works that incorporate the artist’s knowledge of art history as well as moments from his own life. While not all of these sculptures appear to be whole or finished at first glance, you can see the larger picture or meaning behind the artist’s works by looking at each piece as one part of an entire set.
