Sometimes it helps to go back to the fundamentals. The Bridgestone Museum of Art delves into its collection in search of works that highlight one of the essential elements of painting: brushwork. The 170-odd pieces on display in The Power of Brush run from impressionism to post-war abstract art, and feature Japanese artists including Leonard Foujita and Shigeru Aoki alongside the more familiar likes of Monet, Matisse and Picasso.
