Japan's biggest design trade show unfurls at a custom-built venue designed by Kimi Hasegawa in Meiji Jingu Gaien park, with a range of tie-up events at shops, cafés and galleries in the surrounding Aoyama area. After drawing record numbers of visitors last year, Tokyo Designers Week is hoping to further broaden its appeal this year, extending its run to ten days and rebranding itself as a design ‘festival’ rather than an ‘exhibition’. Visitors can look forward to displays covering everything from architecture to fashion to fine art, and there should be plenty to keep the kids distracted too.
