Time Out says

Head to Spiral in Aoyama to learn more about Yamanashi prefecture’s textile industry, which has been operating for about 1,000 years. The production of fabrics in the cities of Fujiyoshida and Nishikatsura started during the Heian period (794-1185).

This free exhibition is organised by Yamanashi Hataori Travel, a group of Yamanashi textile brands. You can shop for beautiful products made by local weavers and textile brands, including umbrellas, neckties and cloth, at 15 different booths.

The exhibition is directed by Tatsuyasu Watanabe. His brand, Watanabe Textile, was established in 1948 and specialises in jacquard and dobby weaving techniques and provides high-quality fabrics to international and Japanese brands. Besides Watanabe Textile, you’ll also find products by Aneqdot by Fumi Hotta, Tenjin Factory, Hadachu Orimono and more.

For more information, check the Yamanashi Textiles website (in Japanese only). The event takes place at the Spiral Showcase on the first floor between 11am and 7pm daily.
