By carefully reading our magazine you may have stumbled across the name Yasunari Kikuma, the photographer of this Time Out Tokyo magazine cover. His first private exhibition, ‘Plain’, opened at Gallery Satsu on March 20. Kikuma has worked with international celebrities such as British model Kate Moss and South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun, as well as Japanese artist Namie Amuro, and has directed several commercials for major companies.
This exhibition showcases works taken in the resort hotel Niki Club (Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture), which closed down in August 2017. In charge of the project’s direction was the facility’s president Hitomi Kitayama, who made it possible to capture the changing of the seasons within the hotel's vicinity.
‘I want to share these photographs with my guests, which illustrate a soon-into-oblivion-falling, irreplaceable scenery. Please spare some time and head over to Gallery Satsu while the cherry blossoms along the Chidorigafuchi moat are in full bloom’, Kikuma told us. You can meet him during the exhibition on April 7, 21 and 28 and also purchase some of his marvellous works.
