Time Out says

This music and art project directed by Kaoru Watanabe brings together artists from a variety of background and genres. In addition to Watanabe, who plays Japanese and Western flute as well as taiko drums, Resonance 2014 welcomes back percussion master Kiyohiko Semba, virtuoso violinist Kaori Takahashi, and preeminent taiko player Tetsuro Naito. New to the Resonance cast are Kodo’s current principal dancer Chieko Kojima, Shogo Yoshii who recently left Kodo to pursue his own path on the taiko and kokyu (Chinese fiddle), as well as accomplished koto player Azumi Yamano. The artist collective TokyoDex will also be on board to add a multifaceted visual backdrop in the way of live photography, art and digital painting. For the fifth turn of Resonance, Watanabe has asked each of the performers to contribute their own compositions. The result is a performance that gives a real sense of art-in-action as it celebrates an artistic journey that unfolds before the audience’s eyes.
