If you're searching for the roots of Japan's dubstep scene, you need only look to one man: Goth-Trad. The Tokyo-based producer hit upon the sound himself in the mid-2000s, oblivious to the low-end experiments that were going on in London at the time. On discovering that there was actually a scene for this stuff, he started a dedicated dubstep night of his own, named after one of his own tracks. Back to Chill is usually a spottily attended midweek party, but there might actually be a decent crowd for its 5th birthday bash, in which Goth-Trad plays both alone and in dubby duo Rebel Familia (with Dry & Heavy bassist Takeshi Akimoto). Wrench drummer Murochin and BTC regulars including 100mado and Ena round out the bill.
